The Alabama VMA (ALVMA) held its Emerald Coast Veterinary Conference from May 31-June 4 in Miramar Beach, Florida.

Awards

Veterinarian of the Year

Dr. Stevan Parsons (Auburn '82), McCalla. Recently retired, Dr. Parsons is a co-founder of McAdory Veterinary Clinic in McCalla.

Special Award for Lifetime Achievement

Dr. John T. Vaughan (Auburn '55), was posthumously honored with this award. Dr. Vaughan served as dean of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine from 1977-95 (see obit).

Layperson of the Year

Glen Sellers, Auburn. Sellers provides clinical service in anesthesia to the J.T. Vaughan Large Animal Teaching Hospital at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. He also teaches clinical practice management rotations and business courses at the veterinary college.
