Small ruminants on U.S. farms

Many veterinarians across the country spend time working with small ruminants, particularly goats and sheep. The category also includes llamas, alpacas, deer, and elk. Here are photos of each species, with data from the 2012 Census of Agriculture on the number of farms that keep the animals and the total animal population, along with some of the uses for each species. (Note: Figures are rounded to the nearest thousand.)
