The AVMA One Health Initiative Task Force reconvened Jan. 31 to Feb. 1 to continue formulating plans for closer ties among the veterinary, human medical, and environmental health professions. Made up of representatives from academia, government, industry, and the health science professions, the task force will issue a report, along with several recommendations, to the AVMA Executive Board this spring. While working on the final report, the task force is also continuing its efforts in the areas of communications, business planning, and strategic engagement to ensure a thorough report and accounting to the board. The task force is chaired by Dr. Lonnie J. King (above), director of the National Center for Zoonotic, Vector-Borne, and Enteric Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
