Gelatt 2000 recipient of lifetime achievement award

Dr. Kirk Gelatt, a distinguished professor at the University of Florida-Gainesville, is the sixth annual recipient of the Mark L. Morris Sr Lifetime Achievement Award. The award, sponsored by Hill's Pet Nutrition Inc, is given to an individual who has made a substantial contribution to enhance the health and well-being of companion animals.

Known as an outstanding researcher and educator, Dr. Gelatt has dedicated his 37-year career to the study of animal sight. His work in veterinary ophthalmology has furthered the understanding of optical diseases in dogs and humans and has inspired thousands of students and veterinarians worldwide.

To honor Dr. Gelatt's achievements, Hill's will donate $20,000 to the Mark Morris Foundation for additional canine research in Dr. Gelatt's name.
