AVMA volunteer opportunities - Vacancies
AVMA is currently seeking volunteers to fill the following positions. As a volunteer, your travel, lodging, and meals are covered by the AVMA.

- Council nomination form (nominations will be made from the floor of the House of Delegates Annual Session)
To assist delegates and alternate delegates in choosing individuals for officer, HAC, and council positions, AVMA staff will prepare a yearly campaign guide listing nominees for these positions. Nominees will be included only if they have provided an appropriate biographical sketch and photograph, and submitted an application or nomination form by the May 1 deadline. Council nominees must also submit a link to a two-minute introductory YouTube video.
Nominations received after the deadline will be announced from the floor of the House. However, information regarding these candidates is limited to the information contained on the nomination form.

President-elect (2025-26)
NOMINATIONS DUE MAY 2, 2024, FOR CANDIDATES WISHING TO PRESENT TO THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES
For AVMA president-elect for the 2025-2026 association year, the nomination deadline to formally announce candidacy and present to the House of Delegates is May 2, 2024. After that, nominations will continue to be accepted for this position until July 14, 2025.

NOMINATIONS DUE MARCH 31, 2024, WITH TERM BEGINNING JUNE 2024
The AVMA is seeking volunteers to represent the animal-owning public on the American Board of Veterinary Specialties. One position is open.
Council on Education (COE) positions
AVMA COE® members—Applications open January 15, 2024
Three positions will be appointed to fill expiring terms on the AVMA Council on Education® (AVMA COE®). Applications will be available from January 15, 2024, through March 15, 2024. All applicants must be AVMA members:
- Member at large—Any AVMA member veterinarian
- Private food animal clinical practice—An individual whose veterinary endeavor is exclusively food animal practice
- Private clinical practice—An individual engaged exclusively in private clinical practice
- Non-Private, Non-Academic—Any AVMA member

Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA) position
Applications DUE may 17, 2024, to fill unexpired term: current 2024 - July 2029
The AVMA Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities® (CVTEA) has a vacancy for a veterinarian to represent faculties of colleges of veterinary medicine on the committee. Applications are due May 17, 2024, to fulfill an unexpired term running until summer 2029.
