In response to requests from members, the AVMA has created an in-hospital donation program for veterinarians who want to do something in their practices to benefit animal victims of Hurricane Katrina. Through the program, veterinarians can offer clients the opportunity to support the work of Veterinary Medical Assistance Teams in hurricane-stricken areas.

Program materials are available at www.avma.org/aa/hurricane/donation_kit.asp. Veterinarians may download wrappers for collection cans, posters, and newspaper ads that encourage donations to the American Veterinary Medical Foundation. Printing the materials in color will display the images to best advantage.

The AVMF will add all donations from the program to the Animal Disaster Relief and Response Fund.
